The REV Index is a single number that captures how well you're playing right now. It rises and falls with your results, so where you land on the leaderboard is earned on the course — nothing else. Every round you post updates it.
How it's calculated
Your index is built from your best recent rounds— your strongest scoring differentials from your latest rounds — and adjusted for how hard each course plays (its slope rating). Using your best recent rounds rather than every single score means the index reflects the level you're genuinely capable of, not one bad day.
How it differs from a handicap
A USGA Handicap Index requires posting rounds through an official system and often an existing membership. The REV Index is built right inside your league from the rounds you play — so you can join the Rev Tour and start building yours immediately, no prior handicap needed. It serves the same fairness purpose: it lets a newer player and a seasoned one compete on level terms through flighted competition.

Is the REV Index the same as a handicap?
It's similar in spirit but not identical. Like a handicap, it levels the field so players of different abilities can compete fairly. Unlike an official USGA Handicap Index, the REV Index is built specifically from your Rev Tour rounds and updates every week you play — you don't need an existing handicap to have one.
How is the REV Index calculated?
It's a rolling number based on your best recent rounds (your strongest scoring differentials from your latest rounds), normalized for course difficulty (slope). Because it uses your best recent rounds rather than every round, it reflects the level you're capable of playing right now.
Do I need a handicap to get a REV Index?
No. Your REV Index is created from the rounds you play in the league, so you can join and start building it immediately.
How does the REV Index set my flight?
Your index groups you into a flight with players of similar ability, so each week you're competing head-to-head with people who shoot around what you shoot.
